Small Style: Holiday Pleats

Holiday looks for kids don't have to be frilly and fluffy.  This sweet holiday outfit is adorably simple and sleek.  I am loving this pleated green jumpsuit for little divas that don't want the fuss.  A cozy white cardigan helps keeps arms warm, and the sequins give it a subtle holiday flair.  You can't go wrong with with adding a pair of gold flats to the mix, and these Nine West Kids flats totally fit the bill.  I may have a bit of outfit envy!

Small Style: Winter Wear

There's a lot of opinions that boy's clothing isn't as fun to shop for, or as cute as girl's clothing, but I totally disagree.  I think putting together looks for boy's is every bit as satisfying.  What little man doesn't look adorable in flannel?!  I love this causal winter look for boys.  A cozy fair isle print sweater over a warm flannel, paired with jeans and a cool boot is a staple winter look.  I love the contrast of patterns of the red flannel print with the sweater.  The touch of brown in the boots also makes for a fun detail.  Each of these pieces is also super versatile which make them great additions to the closet.  So while boys clothing may not have the glitz and glitter of girls clothing, it doesn't mean the outfits can't be just as fun!

Small Style: Soft and Cozy

I can't get enough of this adorable Fall outfit!  I am trying to piece one together in my size.  This Zara leopard print cardigan is so super soft and comfy, it's the perfect sweater to keep your little one warm on chilly days.  We like to throw on a black and white striped long sleeve tee underneath and black sweater tights for a cozy look. I also love how versatile these pieces are and can be styled for several different looks.  Definitely some must have additions to your little fashionista's closet.

Small Style: Beach Vacay

The boy kiddo has his eye on a beach vacation this summer. Unfortunately life has been too crazy for our usual trek to Virginia Beach, so this year's destination will be the Jersey shore. Close enough!  To ease the disappointment, I took the little dude shopping for a new beach outfit. Being that he's become more vocal in his likes and dislikes when it comes to clothing, I was more than delighted at what we ended up with. He's usually not a fan of jeans, but was totally digging these distressed medium wash denim shorts.  The hipster shorts needed more than just a regular tee, so it was a total score when we found this blue gradient hoodie. It pairs PERFECTLY with the shorts. Throw on a casual tank underneath and some comfortable Native's on the feet and he's good to go for this year's local beach vacay. This outfit was accomplished without any tears or  protests. I'd say this week's shopping was a win!

Small Style: Cool as a Cucumber

This week's shopping finds were to fill my littlest's closet. Summer is in full effect and my babe was in desperate need of more warm weather clothing. These chino shorts are a steal at $8 a pair! I grabbed several pairs for the babe. This gorgeous green pair is my absolute favorite of the bunch. These lightweight shorts are perfect for hot days and look absolutely lovely paired with this super sweet lace crochet tank. I love how little effort this look requires, but it still looks completely stylish and put together. In other words, I can actually get this on my little one and have her out the door in a matter of minutes and have her not look like a feral child. That's always a win! A pair of Salt Water Sandals - a summer staple in our household - complete this perfect summer outfit.

Small Style: Little Explorer

This summer the kiddos and I have a lot of nature-based activities on the agenda. Our list includes hikes, beach trips, visits to the arboretum, and exploratory trail walks. With our summer agenda in mind, most of my recent shopping has been aimed towards finding breathable and comfortable pieces for our adventures. This long sleeve hoodie might not exactly scream summer, but I love that it is lightweight and offers sun protection and is perfect for cooler, evening walks. The hoodie looks awesome with these super versatile khaki shorts. A  pair of jungle mocs will make walks easy on the feet by providing comfort and support. The slip on style of these shoes is great, because it makes getting them off and on super easy, which is key on our adventures... you'll never know when we'll want to immerse our toes into the earth!  My kiddo picked out this soft, dino lunch box to tote around his treats for longer treks. We're all ready to pack up and hit the trails!

Small Style: Boho Baby

One major benefit to the current boho trend, is having access to so many great ethnic-inspired pieces. Once upon a time, these pieces had to be hunted and scoured for in thrift shops, random stores in the nooks of major cities and the depths of the interwebs. Now accessing hippie inspired looks are as easy as taking a trip to the mall or typing a few key words into a search engine. A few strokes of the keypad is how I found my little girl's latest look!

This Kampala top comes from the Kate Quinn collection. This sweet African print is perfection all around. I also love the little double pockets on the front of the shirt. This possibilities for this top are endless, but we decided to pair them with medium washed cuffed denim shorts for a summer ready look. These handmade Guatemalan sandals give the outfit a global vibe, and, hello, aren't they beyond amazing?! I am actually pretty darn jealous that I don't have a pair in my size.

I never need a reason to justify any of my shopping purchases, but I am always happy when my spending can do dual duty by supporting a cause. The purchase of both the top and the sandals will benefit communities in Kenya and Guatemala. Now, that's a win-win!

Small Style: Mr. Hipsta'

My boy is a graphic t-shirt collector. I started him out with the witty tee trend in babyhood, and we've been building his yearly collection ever since.  We knew this grey, "Hipsta Please" tee was just waiting to call our closet home, so we of course snagged it up. My boy is no hipster, but we couldn't help having fun by pairing this with black, slim, jeans -  rolled up at the cuffs, of course - and Americana style Chucks. These shoes are going to be a summer wardrobe staple for sure. All the kid needs now is a slouchy beanie and he'll look like he walked straight outta Seattle!

Small Style: Here, Kitty, Kitty

Do I even need to point out how cute these denim shorts with a kitty cat pocket are?  These were an instant sell as soon as I set my eyes on them. They are the perfect addition to my Kitten's summer wardrobe. These shorts are super versatile, and most days my little one wears them with a tank and sneakers for playground fun, but I love them paired with this airy, violet top, and white gladiator sandals. The open lace design of the top, trendy sandals, and striped, knotted headband kick casual up a notch and make for a perfect out-and-about outfit. Have I mentioned lately how jealous I am of Kitten's closet?

Small Style: Seaside Stroll

I have a think for swimsuits. Every year I buy an absurd amount of swimsuits for myself and the kids, and most years we don't even make it to the beach enough to wear all the suits! I blame my excessive swimsuit purchases on my Californian beach upbringing. This year I am making an attempt to curb the swimsuit budget and limit each kid to 2 - okay, maybe 3 - suits. Selecting what suits make the cut have been tough, however, I didn't hesitate to push the "add to cart" button when I found these multi-color, striped swim trunks. I love the seaside influenced color combination. Keeping the beachy theme is easy by adding a  white linen button-up shirt, brown fisherman sandals and a woven straw fedora. I love that this look can easily go from sand to a casual sit-down dinner.

Small Style: Ready. Set. GO!

I have recently become a big fan of PLAE brand shoes. Not only are these shoes adorable, but more importantly, they are durable and made of eco-friendly materials. If that's not enough, they are washable and feature customizable tabs to boot. These shoes are an all-around win, and my kiddos love them. My girl kiddo recently became the owner of the Ty sneaker and she wants to wear them all the time. We love to pair the sneakers with our other current obsession - everyday steals from Old Navy. Check out these black, jersey capris. How cute are these? Aren't those little pockets to die for? Why do they not make these in my size? This striped tank is a win and is a no-brainer addition to the outfit. The Onolicious Bracelet is a special piece and has become a wrist staple for my little one and completes the perfect look for outdoor play. Run wild, my child!

Small Style: Skater Boy

Every once in awhile, I'll splurge on the boy. Today was one of those days. As the summer season begins to set in, my growing boy  is in desperate need of some new threads. We decided to venture outside our usual go-to shops and hit up Zumiez. The boy finally showed a bit of excitement about this whole shopping thing as he picked out this rad, Aztec print hoodie. With that mix of colors, we decided the best approach would be to go easy on the eyes by pairing it with these cool chino shorts and grey skate shoes. The aqua belt gives an extra splash of color and plays off the aqua in the hoodie. My boy is so excited to wear his new duds to school and even muttered a "Shopping isn't so bad sometimes." I'll win him over yet!

Small Style: Playdate

The girl kiddo is a sucker for shorts with a cute pattern. She picked out this entire outfit herself, and I'm pretty impressed. These floral shorts have a retro inspired vibe and are perfect for a playful, summer day. This tank is simple, but the crochet lace back gives it some interest, and who can beat that price! One in every color, please!  The fisherman jelly shoes are a win for outside play. Throw on some cool shades and the girl is ready to hit the playground!

Small Style: Dino Daze

Boys will be boys, at least that's what they always say. It was no surprise when my little dude selected this dino tee during our online summer shopping spree. I can't blame him. This shirt is so cool, I almost want one for myself. Unfortunately, the dino tee is where his interest in shopping stopped. No worries. Mama loves to shop, so I hooked him up with a complete summer look! This casual chambray shirt will layer perfectly over the dino tee. Add in striped shorts and a pair of classic chucks and this outfit has been kiddo approved. Phew!

Small Style: Sweet Lemonade

I just about died when I found this dress. D.I.E.D. I have always wanted a dress in this print and this style, and I have finally found it! Unfortunately I found it in the girls section, which, try as I might, I can not fit into.I can't have it, but my little fashion plate can. Who cares if I'm living my fashion dreams vicariously through her. It's a lemon print dress! And it's allllll mine! I mean, hers. It's all hers. Pairing this dress with strappy gold sandals was a no-brainer. I toyed with the idea of layering the dress with a cardi, but this dress is just too cute to cover up, so I decided to accessorize instead and these gumball bracelets fit the bill perfectly.

With Spring holidays right around the corner, the mad dash for dressy clothes has begun! I put together this relaxed, but dapper,  look for my little dude and couldn't be happier. I love the way this light blue dotted button-up looks paired with a striped sweater vest and slate grey slacks. These earthy brown oxfords from Tucker & Tate are so perfect to complete this outfit. I think this would definitely be bunny approved!

Small Style: Country Girl

Sometimes the best kind of outfit involves only a few pieces. A subtle Western influence is always an easy and fun style for spring. This gorgeous crochet trim swing dress is country inspired without being obvious. My girl can't get enough of floral crowns and this outfit is no exception. A pretty pink and ivory floral crown give a whimsical and romantic touch to the outfit. These brown, two-tone, cowgirl boots are the perfect finishing touch. The end result of pairing these three pieces together is a great look that can easily transition from play to an outing with the family.

Small Style: Jedi Mind Tricks

The older my boy gets, the more no-frills he likes his clothes. That's ok with this mama, since the no-fuss approach is perfect for getting him up and out of the door on time. This pull-over is perfect for my low-key kiddo. It's easy, comfortable and has a pretty rad graphic. It looks great with these light grey, belted, chinos. The real star of this outfit is this sweet pair of Star Wars Vans slip-ons. I mean, come on, how amazing are these?!?

Small Style: Cute Comfort

Most days the babes prefers to be casually dressed than all dolled up.  Me thinks she takes after mama in this mindset. Luckily, casual doesn't have to mean sloppy and boring. These jersey capris are perfect for laid back days. Just as comfortable and movable as a pair of sweats, but the rip-knit cuffs and scoop pockets add a lot of cute to that comfort. A flowy camisole adds a girly flair, and the hip, fringe sandals make the outfit anything but boring!

Small Style: Boy About Town

That transitional time of year where it's too warm for a heavy winter coat, yet still too chilly to leave the house without outwear can present some wardrobe challenges for my little dude who hates dealing with too many layers. This padded vest with a hood  is the perfect solution. It looks great over a  ribbed sweater and cargo pants that are easily rolled up or down, as the temperature fluctuates. The cargo pants and vest have plenty of pockets to hold all the things a boy should need when out and about. Understated canvas sneakers complete this stylish and easy, boy look.
